Language exchanges are a great way to learn a new language with native speakers. They can teach you how to use a new language in a conversational setting, while at the same time helping another to learn your own language. You can practice your Spanish conversation skills at Cabra Library on Wednesdays at 6.30pm.

Welcome to Volunteering
Here at Dublin City Volunteer Centre, we believe that volunteering is for everyone. We want to help you find volunteering that suits your circumstances and goals, whatever those might be.
If you are an International Protection Applicant, Displaced Person, or Refugee we invite you to join us for this special tailored information event that will give you everything you need to know to start volunteering.
We will discuss:
- volunteering while waiting for your transfer
- how to register with the Volunteer Centre and find volunteer opportunities
- continuing volunteering even if you leave Dublin
- volunteering if you need to improve your English
- how volunteering can benefit you
- a few ideas for roles to get you started!
There will also be a chance to ask questions of our staff members.
Volunteering is not only a great way to help others and contribute to society – it can also be a chance to meet new people, get to know Dublin, build your skills, and bring some activity and structure to your week. Lots of people have found volunteering to be a rewarding and enjoyable way to integrate into Irish society – why not come along and learn more?
This event will be taking place online on Zoom. You will receive the link in your confirmation email.

As the one-stop-shop for all things volunteering in Dublin City we seek to provide clear information
As the one-stop-shop for all things volunteering in Dublin City we seek to provide clear information via our website, resources and events to empower people on their volunteering journey. We invest in the participation of people who may need some help to find and sustain a volunteering role. Our volunteer engagement service, which can also be accessed online, makes it easy for people to find a volunteering opportunity that fits their interests, skills, locality and the time they have available.
We work with Volunteer Involving Organisations (VIOs) to develop and strengthen the ways they involve volunteers in their services. Capacity building and networking opportunities for volunteer managers are organised regularly to share new skills and to learn from each other. The development of volunteer role descriptions, policies, procedures and standards also helps to professionalise the ways in which non-profit organisations involve volunteers and to create positive and responsible experiences for everyone.
Through DC-Vet, our garda vetting and training service, we help organisations to safeguard their staff, volunteers and beneficiaries.
We prioritise collaboration, innovation and leadership. Any programmes, materials or research we develop are shared with the network of Volunteer Centres and we are committed to building the national volunteering infrastructure through participation on working groups, the National Volunteering Strategy and leading initiatives. We have successfully initiated and led a range of new volunteer initiatives, in collaboration with partners, to help people in the City.
