The Franklin Expedition: A Drama in Three Acts with Beverly Sperry
The Franklin Expedition: A Drama in Three Acts with Beverly Sperry
Few events in human history have excited the imagination to the extent that the Franklin Expedition has. The voyage set sail from England in 1845 to complete the route to the North-West Passage, and almost immediately the expedition’s ships, the Erebus and the Terror, became icebound in Victoria Strait. From 1849 to the present day, some 90 search parties have set out to find the fate of Franklin and company.
In this talk, Beverly Sperry, fresh from her recent talk as part of the Dublin Festival of History, investigates this ongoing mystery and reveals some of its secrets, as well as discussing some recent developments.
